Swaziland new regulator - Swaziland Communications Commission (SCCOM)
The new regulator, Swaziland Communications Commission (SCCOM) was established last year by the Act of Swaziland Communications Commission. Before SCCOM was officially formed, Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation(SPTC) undertook regulatory functions and the role to issue type approval for radio and telecom equipment. Under the new Act, Section 55(1) of the Swaziland Communications Commission Act, 2013, the regulatory powers and functions of SPTC were removed. From now on, any new applications for the approval of radio and telecom equipment will be submitted and processed by SCCOM. Application already in process with SPTC will be continued and completed by SCCOM.
