Israel MOC relaxes mobile telecommunications requirements after many regulatory discussions

Earlier in the year, Israel’s telecommunications authority, MOC, had announced new regulations for mobile phones and 3G devices that would make approval a long and arduous process requiring many local tests as well as approval from several authorities. Due to complaints from many departments, the new regulations were rejected and underwent new discussions. In September, the revised regulations have been announced. From now on, mobile phones and 3G devices to be imported to Israel will require type approval, but approval from service providers will no longer be necessary. The procedure, which would have been many months long under the previously proposed requirements, will now take much less time, and the process will be less strict and rigorous than previously intended.
