Botswana BOCRA started enforced the new type approval guideline issued on 27th February and issued a TYPE APPROVAL EXEMPTION LETTER on 1st August which empowered to direct and guide when there are telecommunications equipment’s which are to be exempted from Type Approval. The following equipment be exempted from type approval:
i. Personal Computers, laptops, Tablets, IoT etc. (embedded with Wi-Fi transceivers, Bluetooth transceivers, with the provision that the Wi-Fi transceiver, Wi-Fi5 CERTIFIED™.
ii. Receive only Equipment (FM/MW/SW Radios, Television, Satellite decoders, Set-top Boxes).
iii. Vehicle embedded RTTE (Blue tooth, navigation, remote sensors, Car Keys etc), should however ensure that RTTE operate in the appropriate frequency bands.
iv. And GMPCS Mobile Satellite Terminals with “ITU” mark.
