The purpose of this ECC Decision is to harmonize the use of the frequency bands 5150-5250MHz, 5250-5350MHz, and 5470-5725MHz for Wireless Access Systems including Radio Local Area Networks (WAS/RLAN); this amended ECC Decision distinguishes four specific use cases in order to regulate the different scenarios recognized as “indoor use”: inside buildings, road vehicles, trains, and aircraft. 

The decision enters into force on 2 July 2021. The preferred date for implementation of this decision shall be 2 January 2022.

The important notes in this version are highlighted below:

1. 5150-5250MHz-

-Indoor, including installations inside vehicles, trains, and aircraft use and a power level up to 40mW e.i.r.p.

-Use by Unmanned Aircraft Systems limited to within 5170-5250MHz band.

-limited outdoor use that the equipment shall not be attached to a fixed installation or to the external body of road vehicles, a fixed infrastructure, or a fixed outdoor antenna. 

2. 5250-5350MHz-

-Indoor use, inside buildings only 

-Installations in road vehicles, trains, and aircraft are not permitted. 

-Outdoor use is not permitted.

3. 5470-5725MHz-

-Indoor and outdoor use.

-Installations in road vehicles, trains, and aircraft and use for Unmanned Aircraft Systems are not permitted.
